Here we sit in the last hostel of our journey... the next two nights will be spent with couchsurfers in Dublin. We're surrounded by magnificent scenery - a small hostel in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by mountains and hills and lakes and forests! Absolutely STUNNING! We often talk about how there aren't any words left to describe how beautiful this country is...
Our favourite places have definitely been the west coast... we spent a night in Killarney and one night along the Dingle Peninsula! It's just gorgeous driving through that area... on one side you have these towering mountains and winding roads and sheep grazing, and on the next this massive ocean and sandy beaches! Last night we sat on the beach at sunset drinking coffee and loving that beach-y quiet with the waves crashing in the distance... it was too perfect for words.
We spent Monday with our couchsurfing host Mark and his girlfriend Martina! They were so great, and we felt like we were taking a 1.5 hour roadtrip with long-time friends. We took a ferry out to a small island covered with beautiful gardens and spent a couple hours hiking around there! Then Cathy and I made our way to Killarney.
Today we drove across the entire country, stopping in to see the Rock of Cashel. We're dropping off our beloved car tomorrow at noon, and then spending the afternoon in Dublin again! It'll be odd to be back in the city after getting so used to the country quiet!
It's weird to think we'll be back to our regular routines in a couple of days... neither of us feel ready to face reality, as is the norm after a great trip like this one! But we look forward to catching up with all of you over coffees (pints? :)) and phone calls!! As of now, we're enjoying another peaceful night reading and doing Sudokus (Cathy is officially ADDICTED!)
